Re: SimAirline.net to Close in April 2010

Shocking news to say the least. Simairline.net has been one of the best communities i have seen in the VA world. But i do understand were Aaron is coming from, and i fully support his decision. It is a hard job, it is a job that does tie someone down, it is a lot of responsibility. I run a Virtual ...

Re: SimAirline.Net pilot's poll

Thats a shame... well, theirs no saying you cannot look into that in future. :)

Whenever people down here think of Antarctica and air tours, the terrible Air New Zealand Mount Erebus crash comes to mind. The remains of that DC-10 still can be seen by air when the ice melt's.

Re: Destination of the Week - Phnom Penh, Cambodia

nice writeup, a friend of mine visited the real deal last year and can only say good about the nation. A very underrated and overlooked country in the region, but i hear it is amazing. And relatively untouched from the negatives of mass tourism and exploitation, which is good while it lasts. The FS ...

Re: This is going too far

The idea has been researched and thought about a lot actually, going a while back. Japan considered it, on it's short city to city services which pretty much is not different to taking the bus. Myself would never be caught in such a position as that, but honestly, you do get what you pay for. People...

Re: Angolan Pilot lands at wrong airport

Really? that surprises me. Funny that LLBG was ranked 1st in passenger-friendly airports, out of 40 European airports just a while ago. I mean, if the airport is deemed unsafe for El Al to operate to/from, what makes you think that another foreign carrier like British Airways is a safer airline to f...

Re: Cargo Plane Bursts into Flame at Narita

This is not uncommon among MD-11 crashes. There have been at least 3 MD-11 that ended up like that: 1. The FedEx flight to Newark in the 90s 2. The CA/Mandarin Airlines Md-11 that flipped when landing during a typhoon. 3. This flights. I think a thorough investigation of the aircraft is necessary. ...

Re: Cargo Plane Bursts into Flame at Narita

This is flight FX80. if i'm not mistaken, this incident also happened just like FX14 back in 1997, with the MD-11 in Newark. Also China Airlines Flight 642, most have probably been forwarded the captioned joke of that crash ( http://www.snopes.com/photos/airplane/mandarin.asp ) gusts had been estima...

Re: Air Koryo

Well it's not a bad airline because it's North Korean, it has nothing to do with it's home country. It's just very well known for its safety, or lack of, in contrast to safety standards around the world. The choice of fleet is obviously influenced by politics (however they are banned from buying Eur...
