Re: Becoming an airline pilot

I don't know if that's true or not, but that is why I used the term "most."

Thats what the FA told me when we flew back. A simple question "Is this an ERJ145-XR or what" turned into a 20 minute conversation.

Re: Becoming an airline pilot

Actually, you need to be 18 to get a commercial license. 23 is for an ATP (Airline Transport pilot) which you only need to get as a captain. Most airlines have a minimum hiring age of 21.

Huh? Xjet has a FO who is only 19!

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

Well not exactly the FAA but the flight insructors don't want me flying right now. Anywhey why practice flying until I'm 16 and can really get the license.

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

There was a real insructor there but only one so the other pilots flew us. However we had to do it twice, once with the regular pilot, wait a few weeks for an open slot, and do it with the real thing. Aka There where real pilots in the cockpit with us but they where not certifyed to give us the pape...

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

Just on a note. This was not a liscensed insructor. The liscensed insructor was back on the ground. People at Meadow Lakes (00V) donated there plane and flew us on there own time.

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

I was clear blue when we took off. I love Colorado, I HATE the weather.

I didn't look at the airspeed indecator the flight insructor did, don't ask me, maybe the airspeed indecator malfunctioned. I did flare though.

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

In the cockpit with me. The 110kt landing was on a VERY cloudy day and we kept on having to adjust the altimeter to the right pressure so the airspeed didn't bug us until we where on final. He saw the airspeed about 2 seconds before a very rough touchdown. Atleast the tire held until I got to the ha...

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

I was supposed to be 16 to take flight lessons but they tried somthing and let me fly at 13, but after a 110Kt landing (remember that thread), a pair of tires that where pretty flat, and a close call with a power line. I now have to wait until I'm 16 to finish.

Re: how far along are you with Flight Lessons?

I'm in the middle of lessons but after a few mistakes the FAA grounded me. Atleast now I have atleast 4 years before I can leave ground school. Great practice.
