Re: Vista has let me down for the last time

Actually, it hasn't been all that bad so far. I haven't had anything complain about being installed in 7 yet, but I'm not done yet either. Probably would be done if I didn't have to work most of the afternoon and evening.

Re: Vista has let me down for the last time

Well, I am now running Windows 7. :D It was quite painless actually, I was impressed. Now just need to go through and reinstall everything...

Vista has let me down for the last time

Well, I have had it with Vista. :rmad: It has failed three attempts to install updates, and as far as I am concerned, that is three strikes. I am going to try to obtain a copy of 7 this weekend and do a clean install. Hopefully it won't take me too long to get everything back up and running again.

$325k Fine Proposed Against Continental

The FAA has proposed a $325,000 fine against Continental Airlines for allegedly operating a Boeing 737 on 12 or more flights with a known fault in the right main gear.

Re: Reminder: Register for the Farewell Event

I filled out the form and submitted it, but don't recall getting any verification that it was received. I can do it again if in case it wasn't received.

That's a lot of airports

I just ran a utility that counted all of the airports and runways available to me in FSX. 24,492 airports and 54,612 runways. Wow. I've flown to maybe 200 of those airports, and who knows how many of the runways I've made use of. In either case, I've got a long ways to go. Better go strap on...

Re: Just One for Now

Is that left main gear door hanging a little lower than the right, or is it just my imagination and the curve of the runway surface? I suppose they could be testing landings with the main gear doors open to make sure there is adequate clearance between the doors and the runway on touchdown. *shrug*

I flew a B738 to Alice Springs, Australia on QFA796. Not a terribly challenging approach, but boy does that runway look short as you are on short final.

Re: A320 panel problems

A couple suggestions. The simplest thing to do would be to alias to a panel that you know works already. The other thing to do is check and make sure your avionics master switch is turned on. Some aircraft/panel combinations default to a "cold and dark" startup and you need to turn everything on.

Re: Not everyone online is helpful

In his defense, he never gave me the impression that he was rude. It was just his informing me that it wasn't necessary to make a bunch of calls on UNICOM announcing my intentions that I felt was not a good practice. After I responded, we were both able to land without any trouble, and honestly, I h...

Not everyone online is helpful

I just landed in Sydney (JetStar flight 720 from Hobart, Tasmania), and wanted to relate something that occurred as I was on approach to Sydney. I was flying online (VATSIM), and I make it a habit to be rather "chatty" when approaching an airport online. By "chatty" I mean that I regularly send a UN...

Re: Thank you

We are glad you enjoyed your time with us here at SimAirline, and I'm happy I was able to help you get started flying on VATSIM. I don't know if I would say flying offline is unprofessional, but it is certainly a lot more predictable. :) Keep on flying, and I am sure we will all bump into each other...

Re: Logbook Exporting

I would definitely be interested, especially if flights from prior to the current logbook are included. If it is too much trouble and you can't do it individually, I wouldn't mind doing it myself if you can provide instructions (I am assuming that instructions for Excel will also work with Open Offi...

I didn't get an email, but I did get an RSS notification of today's Viewpoint post, and when I tried the link I also got a 404 error (this was at 2030 eastern time).

*EDIT* It's working great now. :)

The Dawn of a New Day

After six and a half years at SimAirline, it seems almost impossible to imagine virtual flying without it. When I first joined SimAirline, I was already an FAA-licensed private pilot, with aspirations of moving up in the world of flying. Up until that point I had casually used various versions of Mi...
