Just as interesting, our pilots don't read instructions. 53 emails since the roster opening with the word "password" in it.

53 password reset e-mails already, Aaron?

An idea: When people login in for the first time, the login should go to the password reset page first before going to the Control Center.

Once the change is submitted, it goes directly to the Control Center anyway.

I forget all my php tags and codes (professor who taught my php class was horrible), but some pseudocode:

If loginpassword = "simairline" then //default password
go to password reset page
else //not default password
go to control center
end if

53 people not reading instructions and asking what their password is.

You gotta be kidding me!
There is no way I filed the first PIREP on the new system.
It must be that I was checking it every little bit since the 10th. ;)

But, anyway, good job guys. Especally to Ali and Aaron.
Thanks.

Yes, it's you :)

Let me shake your hand, you're the first one who used my first big system to do :)

I have just a small suggestion. When you see you make a mistake on a PIREP and push back, all the information gets erased. It might just be my browser but if not, I would suggest that it keeps all the information when a person goes to correct.

I know it's picky, but you did ask for suggestions!

This is something I was hoping for, but it's unfortunately not possible.

So we had some problems with the initial setup of the system, and I had to stop processing PIREPs for about 36 hours. As a result, I'm about 96 hours behind the last submitted PIREP (633 to go at the moment). Some rough statistics so far:

Applications - 68
PIREPs - 155
Correct: Incorrect PIREP Ratio: 19.38 (monthly record was around 13)

I figured it out right away. I read the info on how to log in so no problems here. :)

Hi Aaron:

I received an e-mail with the subject PIREP not approved earlier today (for Emirates). Having seen this message, I immediately submitted the corrections via a new PIREP...but:

Earlier tonight, however, I logged into the control center to submit a brand new PIREP for Hawaiian Air (no problems here). It showed my PIREP history, including a message that said, 1 PIREP needs to be resubmitted.

How should we handle PIREP resubmissions? Via the list that shows all PIREPs that need modification, or by submitting a brand new PIREP?

Given the complexity of the roster system and seeing that each PIREP has its own unique ID number, I figure that by submitting a brand new PIREP, it seems that I will have one PIREP hanging (for modification), plus a NEW corrected version that seems like an regular PIREP (this would make it 2 instead of just 1 -- the one that simply needs to be corrected).

I don't know if you have admin capabilities to delete one or the other. I'll keep checking this thread throughout the day for your reply, and then fix things up as needed.

Nonetheless, the new system is working. Although the PIREP ratio is 1:19.38 per your last unofficial stats, there is a learning curve for everyone involved. This ratio is sure to come down as more people get used to the system, we just have to give it a little time, that's all (because I'm still learning myself)!

When viewing the PIREP that's a problem, there should be an option to resubmit it in place of the one that was previously submitted. There should also be an option to delete the PIREP in question, but that will be added later.

Looks great so far! I think I'm going to like the PIREP history once I've actually flown a decent number under the new system, but there's not much yet in only a couple of days. :)
Great job to those involved, it looks more professional than the previous system.

Is the flight history gonna keep all of our flights or, let's say, only the last 50/100/... ones?

The logbook will hold all flights submitted through the system. We'll eventually edit the page so you can select how many flights to show (page length issue).

And thinking of all the possibilities in how this page can work...IT brains in use...

For current flights (for the current month),
Show All, or last 25, 50, 75, 100
--> Has anyone flown more than 100 flights in a month?

For previous months flights (archives),
Select month/year
Set an array that will populate the drop down box based on the month/year that the pilot filed their first PIREP on the NEW roster system.

Hence, if a pilot joined in 2000, but their first PIREP on the new system was filed April 2006, then drop box could show "April 2006".

Going in reverse order (from current month going backwards) would probably work best in this case.

Select Number of Records to Show
Then, it would be easier to query the DB based on All records, or the last 25, 50, 75, 100 for the month/year selected.[/b]

One thing I thought of:
On the old system, the confirmation screen converted the airport's name to its code. Is there any way we could do this on the new system? I've already made one stupid mistake that I could have fixed using that feature. (I flew YYC-MSP but entered in Toronto-Minneapolis! )

Logbooks (and potentially PIREPs as well) will eventually be able to selected by your preference, destination name, IATA code, or ICAO code.
