Appart from the VA discussion, is this a good thing or a bad thing for Delta?

Interesting. Buy your competitor and merge the competing route systems together thus reducing capacity and raise fares. This sounds like a good idea but will it happen ? I don't know.
It's one hell of a fleet though !

I wouldn't include the Beech 1900's, Emb 120s, CRJ's and ERJ's, I don't think air wisky, comair, and skywest are included.

They should be included because they are part of the fleet, just not the mainline fleet.

Who actually owns those aircraft? If Delta lease/own the AC themselves, I would include them. But if they belong to/are leased by ASA, Comair, etc, then I would not include them.

I think only Comair is Delta metal. The rest are other airlines operating for Delta, and in some cases, for US Airways as well.

While they may not be DL owned/leased aircraft they are under a DL contract to operate for DL.

But as a seperate company, they wouldn't be included in the merger.

True but they'd still be providing service for the merged airline. For a little while anyway.

Unless the combined companies decide that they don't need that many regional carriers and decide not to renew contracts with a few.
But, hey, I'm excited it looks to be a great airline with an amazing fleet. :)

I would think that the locations that are served by both US Airways and Delta the amount of flights would be reduced. Therefore reduce the need for some aircraft. This is a business and aircraft are pretty expensive. I would anticipate most leased aircraft to go back right away.

As for the regional jets/commuters, they would also have competing routes and I would anticipate one or the other losing the contract. Why pay 2 companies for the same service?? The only way I would see both staying on would be if the one company could not provide the aircraft required alone. If the demand is that high, I could almost see some locations change from Commuter/Regional Aircraft to mainline.

Either way... I wonder what the new Livery would look like. You think Delta would change theirs to incorporate something from the new US Airways/AWA scheme?

Thanks,
Kevin

Didn't Delta recently sign a long-term contract with Skywest?
