The 2007 Operations Plan is now online at http://www.simairline.net/2007.html The 2007 Operations Plan was created following the 2006 Annual Survey, the results of which will be posted in the near future. I'll also be posting updates here about our progress towards the nine points of the plan.

Your feedback on the 2007 Operations Plan is welcome and highly encouraged.

1. Complete the Transition to the New Pilot Roster System
Underway, this will likely take the entire year.

2. Conclude Virtual Airline Expansion
Underway, this will likely take the entire year.

3. Begin the Transition to FSX
In planning. Most management do not have FSX at this time, so testing will be slow when it begins.

4. Publish a Monthly In-Flight Magazine
Complete. See http://www.simairline.net/latitude.html

5. Construct a "Creative" Section for the Site
Underway. The Media Gallery still needs further ideas for what to include.

6. Offer Retired Aircraft in Discontinued Flights
Underway. A list of aircraft has been made. The first will become available in the next week, when Northwest retires the DC-10 in real life.

7. Form Additional Codeshare Partnerships
Underway. The list of potential airlines to codeshare with has been made.

8. Clarify Timetables with Flight Durations
Underway. Many Flights pages now contain this information.

9. Finish Other 2006 Initiatives
Not yet begun.

Just one more thing, when will the Statistics page be updated to include the figures fro December 2006 ? Also, did we hit any records in terms of retention, active pilot hours, etc ?

Thanks and keep up the superb work !

I don't quite understand what this "Creative" section is supposed to be.

I think it's a section where pilots can download Simairline.net splash screens, desktop backgrounds, posters, promo videos, etc, etc. Sounds like a very good idea to me.

I thing you should put all the airline flights in the airline page, rather than using a timetable because it sometimes get really confusing!

Didn't I read about the possibility of a Virtual Frontier Airlines, or was I hitting the cough syrup too hard that day?

I know there is a cap to the virtual airlines but can't we really have a major US carrier like American Airlines or United Airlines?

If you want to try and argue that with Aaron be my guest but you're probably going to lose. Take it from someone who has tried with several different airlines.....

Now joking aside, see all the other posts asking for another VA and Aaron's reasoning behind them. Here's one to get you started - http://www.simairline.net/messageboards ... php?t=1430

a major US carrier

The following is a list of U.S major passenger airlines, as classified by the U.S. Department of Transportation:
-AirTran Airways
-Alaska Airlines
-American Airlines
-American Eagle
-America West Airlines
-ATA Airlines
-Atlantic Southeast Airlines
-Comair
-Continental Airlines
-Delta Air Lines
-ExpressJet Airlines

-Frontier Airlines*
-JetBlue Airways
-Northwest Airlines
-SkyWest Airlines

-Southwest Airlines
-United Airlines
-US Airways

*Frontier will likely move up from "national" status to "major" status after reporting its 2006 income.

The bolded nine airlines are part of SimAirline.net.

Aaron,

In terms of an airlines finances, what's the income amount that would distinguish a carrier as "major" as opposed to "national"?

Thanks.

National - $100 million to $1 billion " " "
Regional - <$100 million " " "

American Airlines is an airline that operates the most MD80s and we don't have a VA that operates mostly on MD80s. Yes Alaska Virtual and Delta operate MD80s but they don't have as much flights that operate MD80s than American Airlines. So this is a powerful reason to add American Airlines for a VA and if there are management problems I can do the best to help.

I invite you to review the topics that Nick mentioned. They explain our policy on virtual airline expansion very clearly, so I won't repeat it here.

Quote:

Au contraire: Alitalia flies 75 MD-82s and 69 aircraft of other types. American operates 301 MD-80s and 373 aircraft of other types.

Okay Nick you were right I lost. Aaron I read the topic that Nick brought up and I now think that it is a good idea to not add airlines since there are less and less increase in pilots. By the way, is there a way to put the airline's schedule on the Internet rather than the electronic timetable because the timetable gets really confusing to use sometimes :D

Not really, it's much easier to just use the timetable.
What's confusing about it? The Skyteam one especially is very straightforward to me, so I'm sure with a little experience you'll get used to it.
