If I filed a section of a flight (i.e. TG794 - VTBS-KLAX) as another flight to a destination to which I diverted (TG622 in my case; VTBS-RJBB) because of wounded PAX, can I continue from RJBB to KLAX as TG794 and still be able to log the hours?

The above is not correct. You should file the full flight and include in the comments where you diverted to and how long was spent idle there. That time will not be included in the PIREP.

So if I divert and land, the time flown from origin to alternate airport does not count? When you mean idle, why would we need to report idle time if the flight is going to end there?

Also do you get credit say Origin-Alternate-Destination for all that flight time? Otherwise what people could/would do which is silly is say you're going to divert and land then you decide your destination is not feasible due to weather or because you don't feel like it whatever they could just simply fly back to the Origin if that made any sense which comes back to the question of reporting idle times... if you're going to divert your flight ENDS there PIREP its over your passengers will take a BUS to their final destination :).

The bolded parts are identical.

Basically how a diversion works in regards to filing a PIREP is that you file the time you left the departure airport, the time you arrived at the original destination, then in the comments section you would put in where you stopped, why you stopped, and how long you were there. If you do not continue on to the original destination, then you cannot file a PIREP (I've run afoul of that one a couple times).

so what you're saying is if the flight is 5 hours, you divert and it takes you an hour to get to your alternate at the gate, the 6th hour counts right? Then you depart and it takes you about 1.5hrs to get to the original destination because you need time to push, taxi and any holding for traffic then the one hour to fly back so you gain an extra 2.5hrs (but you'd better have a pretty good reason and information to back it up).

A very simple way to look at it, but yes. Keep in mind that if you have a diversion on every flight, Aaron will start tossing out your PIREPs. :P

well thats kindof a duh there. IMHO the best way to show a diversion is to show the METAR you obtained preflight, and then when you get into the 50NM area of the airport and you find the METAR is no longer satisfactory, copy that data, then divert and then after some time get your preflight METAR again to see if getting there is possible if it is copy that METAR to indicate you've been waiting for a good weather report.

Thats how I'd do it, not saying its required or should be.
