Does the calculation for flight time in the PIREP account for daylight savings? Quite often when I fly in FS, the flight time is different to when I input it on the PIREP submission page.

FS timezones are often not correct. The PIREP form (and the airline's flight times) should account for daylight savings. If you find that the time when you arrive in FS is an hour off of where it should be, feel free to add/subtract that hour if you know that FS has it wrong.
Also, remember that daylight savings time in some countries, including the US, has changed since 2003 when the game was released.

I use FSRealtime (or something like that), so the time zones are correct (or at least better than default FS ones). I think the last flight I had trouble with was due to flying from India, and a time zone half and hour ahead instead of an hour.

Even with additions, FS timezones are still a mess. Just assume they're always wrong. Chances are, if you go forward or back an hour or two, you'll be very very close to your scheduled arrival.

I usually use FS Timer to time my flights, than add that on to the time I set off and most of the times FS Timer displays the correct time.

I still wouldn't trust it. Especially if it's giving you strange times.

I did a GA flight for fun from Alabama to the airport 5 minutes from my house in Georgia (Cobb County-McCollum if you care to know), and the clock in FS didn't stwitch until after I was on the ground (keep in mind that Alabama and Georgia are on the border of the US Central and Eastern time zones [If you live outside the US, perhaps]). Anyhow, yeah. FS's time zones are screwed up. I find it fairly easy to keep track of GMT and then convert the local time when I land. I have no experience with the programs suggested, as I never downloaded them (On a laptop, you need all the free space you can get), but GMT works if you are willing to put in the 5 minutes of work it takes and you don't feel like adding yet another program to your computer.

I've been using FSReal Time for a while now, and have noticed that it is almost always off when I am flying around Asia and Australia. Africa is kind of hit-or-miss. Only in Europe and North America has it been correct. It's always best to have your own way to double-check the times.

Are the time zones in FSX correct then?

Just automatically assume anything in FS9, is worse in FSX.

I don't know if I would go that far. After all, I did try FSX and ended up switching back to FS9. :P

True. FSX provides a better slideshow than FS9 does...
