Boeing delays 787 flight
MSNBC
When will Boeing get it together? It's bad enough that the plane is two years behind schedule. I hope that for the 797 they find the kinks and have a more relaxed deadline instead of what happened to this plane and Airbus's A380.
Will the A350XWB also follow suit?

Re: Boeing delays 787 flight
By the time the 787 makes its first flight, the thing will already be obsolete

Re: Boeing delays 787 flight
I would imagine that Airbus has learnd a lesson or two with the A380
so Im, thinking that the delays won't be anywhere near as bad.

Re: Boeing delays 787 flight
Neither of them, Airbus nor Boeing will learn from this debacle. Both of them pitch schedules that don't include enough time for problem solving, stuff like this WILL come up with new technology and such an aggressive schedule.
Guaranteed that the next Airbus or Boeing will be delayed as well, hopefully not as much though.

I can't imagine what will happen when Boeing starts the Yellowstone project.Northwestdc9 wrote:Neither of them, Airbus nor Boeing will learn from this debacle. Re: Boeing delays 787 flight
It has started. The 787 was actually Y2. Y1 is 737/757 replacement and Y3 is 777/747 replacement.
Re: Boeing delays 787 flight
Completely agree with you Nick. The phrase is under promise and over-achieve. Boeing used to do it well with aircraft performance, but when it comes to production schedules, both Boeing and Airbus have dropped the ball. Both planes were revolutionary, and you're right, hardly any problem solving time was scheduled.Northwestdc9 wrote:Neither of them, Airbus nor Boeing will learn from this debacle. The Boeing 787. Revolutionizing the way you think about air travel. But you gotta wait for it.
