EASA issues AD requiring replacement of FOHE units

Post by RatherBFlyin » 06 Dec 2009, 05:30

The EASA published an AD on Thursday requiring the replacement of Fuel-to-Oil Heat Exchanger (FOHE) units on Rolls Royce RB211 Trent 500 and 700 series engines. This is very similar to an AD published by the FAA earlier this year affecting RB211 Trent 800 engines. Both are based on the results of the investigation into the crash of British Airways flight 38 in January, 2008. I find it a little interesting that both agencies are putting out AD's regarding different models of the engine. You would think they would cover the same model.
