Post by Tom Alder » 30 Aug 2009, 19:32

What is the best scenery out there for Gatwick? Payware or freeware.

Easily UK2000. They make a payware version, and a free version (obviously the payware is much better).

Very good, they're all very detailed and have a low FPS impact. I also recently switched to their Heathrow as well, mainly b/c it doesn't cause my computer to CTD on approach.

I'll second what David said, very good on FPS, and have great ground textures; especially the runways. I own all of the Xtreme products that UK2000 has released, and I would buy them all again, top notch stuff. Also, their Birmingham is one of my favorite scenerys; bar none.

UK2000's standard series are just ok but their Xtreme product line is excellent and top notch. Definitely a must have.

Their Gatwick scenery is very good.

Am I correct in thinking that the freeware versions are just watermarked versions with a large box on the runway? Or are they a different version?

The one you are thinking of are the demos of the UK2000 Extreme. The freeware I believe were just very watered down versions of Extreme

Yup. When you first go to their site, there's a page for extreme sceneries, regular, vfr, and freeware. The freeware, as Alex just pointed out, is the same, only removing many small details, which include everything from taxi lights to detailed jetways (FSX version uses the default jetways).

It is really personal preference; they are both equally detailed.

I prefer Aerosoft's, but that's just me.

I took it to mean that he doesn't trust SimMarket's website. Not sure why, though.
