List of runway re-surfacing projects at major U.S. Airports

Post by DMM200 » 01 Sep 2009, 22:48

The following runways at these major U.S. Airports will be temporarily closed:

KJFK/JFK Kennedy Int'l:
Runway 13R/31L is closed until September 17, 2009 while new drainage systems are installed and the runway is widened an extra 50 feet. The operational impact will be minimal and no reports of reduced operations have been issued yet, however, the program put into effect in March 2008 to limit scheduled operations at Kennedy during peak hours will expire on October 24, 2009, over a month after the runway is re-opened.

KMSP/MSP Minneapolis/St. Paul Int'l:
Runway 12L/30R is closed and will remain inoperative until the end of October 2009. Delta departments are preparing for reduced arrivals, increased block times, and ground delay programs in the event of inclement weather.

KSEA/SEA Seattle-Tacoma Int'l
Runway 34R/16L is closed for reconstrucion until September 30, 2009. The ILS on this runway will remain out of service until March 27, 2009. The operation of heavy aircraft will be limited, but not restricted.

Hey this is my home airport. Right now is one of the best times to spot. because they always takeoff 30L/12R. It's amazing but yet sucks really bad

Do you mean March 27, 2010?

Ahh, I'm sorry, it's been out of service since that date, and it will return to service after the runway is re-opened. Thanks for the catch Fraser.

Also PDX is down to one runway so there are some flow issues into there ;)
