A christmas getaway! I am leaving for the big apple on Friday Heading out of O'hare for the first time in my life (dad loves kmdw and southwest). I cannot wait to see the legendary O'hare airport. Also for the first time in my life I am flying something other than a 737 besides a C 152 in training (Again, dad loves southwest). Its an ERJ 135/145 both ways so I am excited to fly a regional. I should have pics and a report posted up around Christmas. Can't wait until Friday!

I don't have parents like that. Anyway, I'm sure Midway is a nice airport to travel through. O'hare, from my personal experiences, is very easy to get lost in.

Be lucky you have parents that actually fly. Mine insist on driving unless it's absolutely impractical to.

I don't mind Midway at all it is a piece of cake to get through unbelievably easy parking, and I really like how when you are coming in the airport just comes out of nowhere from among the neighborhoods. I also love southwest, their prices are really good and they are an incredibly smart and well run airline. However, I really am excited to get on an embraer I think it will be a new experiance and really I just cannot wait till Friday!

You will love the ERJ. 1-2 seating can't be beat! And unlike the CRJ, you can look out the window without turning into the Hunchback of Notre Dame

I've actually found the same thing. Only airport I've ever been lost in. But is it just me...or is it kinda fun to be lost in a huge airport?

Depends on the circumstances. I went to O'hare in July of '07 and May of '02. We walked behind the security counters to the subway and the TSA screwed us in well :D . But if I were to get lost at night in O'hare, be alone with nobody there (not even a single TSA member), which has happened to me before at JFK, then I would be a little freaked out .

Have fun man.... I know ohare well most airports pretty well but Ohare because its my home lol... but JFK can be a PAIN!!!!! TSA isn't that helpful sometimes either....even to crew members. I just hope weather fairs well for you because I just had the commute from hell last night in which for the 2nd time in my life I had to camp out in the DTW crew lounge and sleep. Details........ WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I will just post a new topic lol.

We are now leaving at 7:30 tomorrow and of course I am stuck on another 737 :? Same flight back so hopefully my 737 streak will come to an end then. Still keeping my fingers crossed on getting out of here tomorrow.

Snow tonight and tomorrow in NY, I'm trying to get into the city this weekend to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and to go ice skating with a friend. Never gone skating there before...

Trust me, Chicago weather is about to get a whole lot worse. Predicting 3-6 inches at O'hare and knowing O'hare, that means a rediculous amount of delays/cancellation. I hope you get out ok though Nick. One of my buddies is flying Northwest, GRR-MSP-MIA, tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. so it will be interesting to see how that fairs for him. Because that is when GRR is supposed to be hit the hardest by this beast of a snow storm. Best of luck mate.

Depending on what time your flight leaves, I forgot what you said.... but yeah it is supposed to get hit hard both in Chi and DTW around the early morning, then slowing down in the evening but I hear up to a foot can be expected in the DTW area. Its going to be another rouph travel weekend. Matter of fact the TV just sent out a winter weather warning for tomorrow. But of course the airports and airlines and travel family are getting set, I think they are more prepared for this one then the last. But yeah good luck on your travels. I just hope I remain sitting and not have to drive in it lol.

We're supposed to get about 1-3 inches at JFK, and 3-6 at LGA, that is unless the wind kicks in. If the wind does kick in, JFK will get 3-6 inches and LGA will get about 6-9 inches. And you all know what that means here in New York...

Well boys this roller coaster of a ride continues. Well I am back to KMDW ... fate or what? We are flying into Long Island on Southwest since our continental flight got canceled. Our travel plans on the way back remain the same. Still hoping to get out tomorrow!

Good luck. McArthur is going to be calm, but traveling westbound is going to be hard for you.
