Okay, Its been a while.
I'm taking a flight to Washington DC this August, & I have two choices on flights...
SBN-DTW CRJ
DTW-DCA A320
DCA-DTW DC9-50
DTW-SBN Saab 340
-OR-
SBN-DTW Saab 340
DTW-DCA 757-200
DCA-DTW CRJ-900
DTW-SBN CRJ

Now I can't decide if I want to fly on the DC9 or the CR9, I haven't been on either of them, and love them both.
As of now I am leaning toward the DC9 flight, the first one.
Which Should I Choose?

The DC-9, because you never know when that option might never be available to you.

My last 727 flight was eight years ago...

Like Aaron said, the CRJ-900 will be around for some time whereas the DC-9 is getting ready for retirement. Catch the DC-9 while you still can.

Easy easy choice. Nothing like the rumble of the DC-9 if you've got the chance.

Now I just need a little help picking seats on the Saab and DC9. Any advice?

SeatGuru is your best choice there, though I may differ on some of its advices.

Saab it really makes no difference where you sit, you're going to go deaf and vibrate for days. I usually opt to sit towards the front so I can get off quickly.
DC9-50 depends on whether you're going for aviation experience or comfort, my days of sitting in 25A or whatever it is that's right next to the engine with a great view of the engine and wing, along with an extremely loud but amazing soundtrack are definitely over. Comfort I always sit in 5A, that is if I don't get upgraded.

Enjoy the DC9, it's an incredible ride.

Sorry, I know you only needed the best seats for the DC-9 and S340, but I wanted to give you options for every leg of the flight, just to help out . I do think you should fly on the DC-9, like everybody else said, they're not going to be around as long as the RJ's. Bear with me, I'm just going off of what seatguru says . These seats are for the most comfortable flight in that aircraft.

For SBN-DTW on the CRJ: There is no great seats in coach, but there are a couple in first. Row 1 seat A and C, and row 5 seats A,C, and D. For row 1, seat A and C, there is extra legroom due to the bulkhead being far forward. For row 5, seats A,C, and D, they just have extra legroom and and under seat storage (Good if you want to bring your camera aboard).

For DTW-DCA on the 320: Row 5 seats A,B,C,D,E, and F, and Row 10 and 11, seats B,C,D, and E. For row 5 seats A,B,C,D,E,F, they have extra legroom because the bulk head is only a curtain, so you can stretch you legs into first class. For Row 10 and 11, seats B,C,D and E, they have extra legroom because of the over wing exit.

For DCA-DTW on the DC-9: Row 5 seat A,B,E and F, and Row 6 seat D. For seats A,B,E, and F, the bulk head is only a curtain, so you can stretch your legs into first class. For seat D, there is no seat in front of it so you also have a lot of legroom.

For DTW-SBN on the S340: Row 1 seat C and D, and Row 6 seat A,C, and D. For row 1 seat C and D, they have extra legroom, but, there is no floor storage and tray tables. A tray table is provided by the flight attendent. For row 6 seat A,C and D, they have a little extra legroom. It also can get very cold by the exits during flight though, and the center seat has slightly reduced storage due to an equipment box.

Yes definitely the back for the DC-9. There's no question about it. For the S340, I would try to get a wing seat. (I know it's kinda loud, but it's better than sitting in the front and not being able to see the wing and engines clearly.)
