Airline Lounges

Post by Aaron Robinson » 12 Jan 2010, 14:25

Following on to this topic, does anyone have airline lounge memberships? I bought a Delta Sky Club membership this past year, and it has been well worth it. The benefit is not so much in the free snacks, alcohol, or meals (ATL-E, JFK, and international partners only), but in the internet access and respite from the crowded terminals when a flight is late or not boarded. I have used it about 60 times in the eight months I have held the membership--$4-5 per visit is a pretty good deal!

Unfortunately, the only airline lounge here is AA's Admirals Club. I thought about buying membership, but:
1. I'm not a frequent traveler.
2. I'm on the other side of the island. So even if I were a frequent traveler or were granted access, it would be very rare that I use my pass.

I don't travel enough on my own to get frequent flyer benefits. However, I do have a frequent flyer account with Virgin Atlantic which does allow you access to the airport lounges. However, you have to actually spend traveller miles to get into the lounge, so it isn't like I have unlimited access.

Whenever I fly with my Dad we usually get access to the lounges. He used to fly regularly with BA and I used to go into the lounges at Gatwick and Heathrow, but he is based out of Houston now so we get access to the lounges at IAH, due to him having Platinum Elite status. I'm not sure what the allowance is for the number of guests, but we managed to get six into the lounge when we flew to Vegas in 2008 (which, by the way, has a very cool lounge which is added on top of the main terminal building).

I would get one but surprisingly we don't get a discount on it from AS so its not really in the budget

Whenever I fly with my parents I get in with them, they've got a life membership with the Koru Club (Air NZ).

If only jetBlue had a lounge...I'd be a member then. :P

I always thought about getting one...Though the only airline here that has a lounge is, naturally, Alaska Airlines. But I don't travel enough, so I'm fine with sitting in the terminal and flying economy class...Though if I ever have first class upgrade passes or anything, I definitely jump on that.
