dates used for pireps?

Wondering how something works here or why we do things the way we do? Just ask.

dates used for pireps?

Post by jameskcox »

hello,

i flew one flight tuesday, entered the pirep with that date (obvious). I saved the flight at the gate, exit open, engines shut down.
I returned the next (real-world) evening, loaded that flight, and continued form where it left off. In otherwords, I pretended that it was the same day, same plane, same gate, just an hour later after pax disembark and new pax embark. then i flew to a diff city.

My question, thn, is should my second (and subsequnet) dates in the pireps be the same as the first pirep because the flight is a continuation of the first day's events, even thoguh it may be a few real-world days later, or should the pirep date be the day in the real-world that we actually sat down and flew it?

You should probably make the date the day you flew the flight. The only exception would be if you were flying two Wednesday-only routes, for example, and you started on a Wednesday, you could go ahead and file the second one for the same day.

It's not required, though, you can fly a Wednesday-only route on a Friday in real life if you like; just set the simulator date to a Wednesday of your choice.

You should use whatever system suits you best. I recommend filing based on the simulator date to avoid the problem you recommended. Another similar issue is if you flew on 28 May:
1) a flight departing departing on the 28th from North America to Europe arriving on the 29th
2) a flight within Europe the morning of the 29th
and then filed both as 28 May, flight 2 would appear first in the logbook because the departure time was first.
