I'm sorry I don't mean to be nasty or anything but doesn't that mean you fly in N. America and Europe leaving quite a lot of the world to be discovered. sorry

Anyway I'm sure with 32 airlines we'll have enough to last for a long time.

tend to agree with rich bro here ,

america and europe do not cover most of the world........
so lots and lots of flying still to do i guess...

and yeah i think most of these places are quite accessable with the airlines we fly fo simairline.net..

It will be sad to see expansion end but when it does we will have a great selection of airlines to fly for.

I'm not quite sure I understand why this was brought up when my post was supportive of stopping the expansion. At least I thought it was. Heck, I would be happy even if Aaron decided to stop expanding our airlines tomorrow.

I suppose I should clarify my statement, though. When I said "with the exception of Africa, Asia, Australasia, and South America," what I meant was that I haven't spent a great deal of time there. I have made flights to all of those places, but I haven't done much exploring there. And like I said in my original post, that is because of how I select my flights, not because we lack coverage in those areas. I suppose I should have said something like "I have overflown most of the virtual world, but haven't stopped to sample much of the local cuisine in Africa, Asia, Australasia, and South America." :)

Some old poll results I found:
My favorite defunct airline is:
29% - Pan American Airways
16% - Swissair
13% - Trans World Airlines
13% - Eastern Airlines
10% - Canadian Airlines
5% - Ansett Australia
4% - Braniff International Airways
4% - Piedmont Airlines
4% - Sabena Belgian World Airlines
2% - British Caledonian Airways
Out of 207 votes.

After removing Pan American, Sabena, and Swissair:
26% - Trans World Airlines
25% - Eastern Airlines
20% - Canadian Airlines
10% - Ansett Australia
8% - Braniff International Airways
8% - Piedmont Airlines
5% - British Caledonian Airways
Out of 105 votes

I actually considered one of the other VA's out there, but it was just what you were saying - a checkride, have to fly VATSIM, etc. I've enjoyed the excellent variety of routes and aircraft here, and I've only touched the surface. Great job, guys. Keep it up!

yeah CX!!... i know a VA that has over 400 airlines!!! it will be unamed for obvious reasons.. it might sound good .. but how can you get news from each airline each day and upgrade new routes .. add a new aircraft to that airlines database? ... i find nearly all airlines do not correctly have the entire shedule and each aircraft that the real airline orders will definately take around 3months till they MIGHT add the new routes and aircraft.. i think in my opinion that too much airlines would hurt the work that the staff at sa.net has created... Simairline has a really accurate shedule of each airline, each aircraft .. even with Registrations and info! they've done a great job! who know in the future the expansion could start again if new Pilots and management get a lot bigger! BUt overall Simairline is the best VA out there.. think about it,

what VA lets you pick your routes from a real life airline and operate them as much as you want, without constant emails saying your assigned to this route from seattle to vancouver and you must complete it within 3 days or you will be booted from the VA. thats happened to me :(

We haven't decided or thought about that yet and we won't until all the 2007 airlines have been added.

Quote from the February 2007 Latitude:

However, as I [Aaron] mentioned last month, we will be replacing Air Berlin with another Germany-based virtual airline in the future, after our currently planned expansion is complete. We have not yet determined what airline this replacement would be based on.

I remember there was a thread that mentioned possibly LTU or Lufthansa. This was a thread written by our pilots, not Aaron, so we do not really know what airline it will be. Hopefully Lufthansa!!!!!

Lufthansa is unlikely as we operate a codeshare agreement with another Lufthansa VA.

And as faras I know Lufthansa doesn't want a VA. And we wouldn't want to shut it down again after a few months do we?

There already is one, the only issue is that we partner with them so it would be a bit redundant to create our own Lufthansa VA.

LTU is also probably not going to be an option, now that Air Berlin has purchased that airline (I was just reading an article about the US-EU open skies agreement and it jogged my memory).

^^ For the second time AF is not plausable as a VA for simairline due to legal reasons. If you really want to fly AF do it as an axtra to simairline flying. A lot of people here do flights like that, such as American, Iberia, Singapore Airlines etc.
