Virtual Icelandair Opens

Post by Aaron Robinson » 03 Apr 2005, 04:01

REYKJAVIK, 3 April – Virtual Icelandair opened today as the twenty-first virtual airline of SimAirline.net, the global virtual airline organization. Virtual Icelandair is based on the Icelandic national airline and operates flights to both sides of the Atlantic from Keflavik International Airport, Iceland’s primary gateway to the world.

“While SimAirline.net has proven adept at adding a number of quality global airlines over the past five years, we have not ignored smaller, unique carriers such as Icelandair. We feel that Virtual Icelandair represents a strong carrier and an excellent addition to SimAirline.net’s growing airline options to pilots.” SimAirline.net will be celebrating its fifth year of operations later this month, and plans to add eleven more virtual airlines to the organization to offer a diverse selection of virtual airlines to its members. The organization’s next virtual airline will be based on AOM French Airlines, once the second-largest airline in France.

Virtual Icelandair is located at http://www.simairline.net/icelandair/, and is part of the SimAirline.net group of virtual airlines, which allows all pilots to fly all the flights of its twenty-one virtual airlines.

Loftleidir Icelandic, a sister company, owns two 767s. One will be used by Icelandair this summer. It will probably not be in Icelandair livery.

I'm having a problem with the fleet dl page in Icelandair. When I click on the panel high detail Fs2002 etc, it brings me to AVISIM and I start the dl, but then it freezes and I have to restart my computer. I was able to get it from Flightsim.com, but I just thought I'd bring it to your attention. :D

Now let's hope that the PSS 757 is a nice product, would love to give it a try on some Icelandair routes.

Does anyone watch that series "Airline" on, I think, BBC? It covers some of the airlines operating out of Heathrow, one of them being Icelandair.

I used to watch Airport on the Discovery Wings Channel, until it was stopped. They followed a bunch of airline management around LHR, with Icelandair being one of them every so often.

Yeah it was Discovery Wings, my mistake. I believe it's now the Military Channel. And yes we get BBC America here, not the same thing but you can get it on satellite.

I'm sorry if this comes across as being harsh, but it seems really stupid to me to bump a topic this old for a reply like "that's cool" If you didn't say it a year and a half ago, then don't bother to bump the topic if you don't have anything new to add.
