annoying spam personal messages

Wondering how something works here or why we do things the way we do? Just ask.

annoying spam personal messages

Post by hippyonenine »

This week I have received 2 completely unrelated personal messages which are pure spam and advertising completely useless and unrelated material.

Has anyone else received them? Is there a way to stop these people from taking advantage of us? As I have my main e mail addres logged in here thinking seriously of chaning it to Hotmail or somesuch so that I dont get spam coming throught to this address.

On a philosophical note why do people try to spoil our hobby with trash? They must be desperate if they think we will respond

Thanks for reading my minor rant

That's what they are.

Learn to ignore them. I received the same emails, but instead of opening it and reading it, just delete it straight away. Reading it is what the spammers want you to do, so don't bother.

Have done the same but its annoying nevertheless and they only just started for me - and agree to delete which Ive done but what happens if you get a genuine personal message as they are tricking us that a pm has arrived?

Ditto. If anything, I'm the one who sends the notes to the spammers! They include motivational messages like "screw you"

Are we allowed to use rude words towards them. That is breaking the rules?

Do you lash out at your computer when it crashes? Same thing. Bots aren't humans. They have no feelings. They're nothing but automated parasites eating up bandwidth.

Replying will only make them send more.

really have enjoyed reading these replies - I am ignoring the spammers but its just frustrating the way they think we are going to respond. Doubt whether a **** u is really going to put them off but it still annoys me that someone has infiltrated these columns for there own selfish reasons.

also of course theres no point in banning them since all they need to do is re register in another name ( except i assume u can log isp addresses?
