Recurring WoAI error driving me up the wall

Post by Carlo »

More and more packages I try and install result in me getting an error along these lines (this is the error message I got when trying to install the El Al package for example) :
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Conversion from string "37//REQUIRES NON-WINGLET MODEL" to type "Integer" is not valid.
This happens when I leave the package unzipped, and also when I unzip it one level (which is how I've been doing it for my many other succesfully installed packages)

The Sun Country package gives me the same error but with
"Conversion from string "121//REQUIRES WINGLET MODEL" to type "Integer" is not valid.

Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance

You've been using the WoA folders to install other AI, which is fine, if you know what you're doing. The problem with that is you're throwing the installer haywire. Let's break it down:

37//REQUIRES NON-WINGLET MODEL

Will look like this in the aircraft.cfg:

[fltsim.37]//REQUIRES NON-WINGLET MODEL

Delete anything after the fltsim number bracket. It's good practice to do so anyway.

Ah right I get you.

I've figured out a way around the problem; I've decided to just use the WoAI installer to unpack the packages and move the files manually into the right places. Takes longer but hey, at least the end result is good
