The City of Port Moresby
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea's capital, is possibly the least livable of them in the world. With a population of 255,000, Port Moresby is also the largest city in the country. With the city ruled by raskol gangs and with rape, robbery and murder rates soaring The Economist's 2009 report on the most livable cities rated Port Moresby at 137 out of 140. In 2004 the Guardian reported that the unemployment rate was estimated to be between 60 and 90%, and the murder rate three times that of Moscow and 27 times that of London.
Port Moresby had been inhabited by many centuries by the native Motuans before Englishman Captain John Moresby first sighted the land on which the city now lies. He claimed the city for Britain on the morning of 20 February 1873 and named it after his father, Admiral Sir Fairfax Moresby. In 1925 electricity was introduced and a piped water system was installed in 1941. In 1975 Port Moresby became the capital city of Papua New Guinea after independence from Australia.
Jacksons International Airport (POM/AYPY)
Eight kilometers outside of Port Moresby lies Jacksons International Airport, hub for Air Niugini and Papua New Guinea's largest and busiest airport. It was renamed from Port Moresby Airport after Australian Ace pilot John Jackson and leader of RAAF Squadron 75 was killed by Japanese aircraft over Port Moresby in 1942. The airport has an extensive domestic network with flights throughout Papua New Guinea being operated by both Air Niugini and Airlines PNG.
Jacksons Airport has a history of being used by the Allied forces as a primary airfield during the New Guinea campaign during World War II. Six major USAAF groups were based at the airport from 1942 to 1944.

Who'd have thought a city would be so infested with crime? Not to be racist or something but I'd expected something like that to come out of an African country. Just goes to show nothing is what it seems.
Nice write up Fraser!

I agree with you Dennis, I would've thought it a nice tourist location.
Then again, from what I have been hearing about Rio de Janero and
the rampant crime there...nothing shocks me anymore.
Lucky for us - no criminal AI in our sims!

Funny you should say that actually, as WoAI recently released Smugglers AI which contains flights of smuggling groups.
