Korean Air orders five 747-8I's

Post by RatherBFlyin »

With a list value of $1.5 billion, these aircraft should fit quite nicely between the 777-300ERs and A380's that Korean Air is getting.

Great news to see, with rumors of an even bigger Asian carrier 747-8I order coming in, this program is looking good. Definitely what I wanted to see happen with this iteration of the '47.

Excellent news! Good to see that Korean will continue to be a 747 operator, the true Queen of the Skies.

Boeing's mistake here is offering only the GEnx option for the engines. Had they offered RR or maybe even PW, I'm pretty sure BA would've gone for some as would've some other airlines. Maybe Japanese carriers?

Korean Air had already ordered several freighter versions, as have many major cargo operators.

I could be wrong here, but wasn't GE the only engine manufacturer that offered a new engine design?
