Shake-up at Thai
Orient Aviation recently interviewed Thai Airways International Chairman Wallop Bhukkanasut about turning the airline around after its first annual loss in over four decades. Wallop, son of one of Thai's founders, discussed the problems of government ownership and oversight, the cost of last year's protests, fleet renewal, and other issues. You can read the article here.

Thai Vacates Don Muang

Thai had opposed reopening the airport because it wanted a single hub, but transferred most domestic flights back in response to low-fare airlines moving back to Don Muang. Now Thai is again moving those flights back to Suvarnabhumi, citing $1.2 million in annual losses from flying from Don Muang due to losing domestic-to-international passenger traffic.
